From a shop that runs on it.

Burning Bush is a cannabis delivery business in Brooklyn and the first shop on Cultivar. This is what they ran on before, and what changed.

Five places a number could live.

Supplier orders went in a notebook. Customer orders came in by text and went out by text, to whichever driver was on. Stock was a spreadsheet that was right on Monday.

Nobody was doing anything wrong. There were five places the same number could live, and one person carrying it between them at the end of the day.

Four jobs they used to do by hand.

Each is shown on the Cultivar screen that does it now. The screens show sample data, not Burning Bush’s own orders.

  1. Ordering from a supplier

    Before
A list in a notebook, and a text to the supplier.
    Now
The supplier’s list is pasted in and becomes the order, with a running total. Until the boxes are counted in, none of it can be sold.

  2. Knowing what is on the shelf

    Before
A spreadsheet, updated when someone remembered.
    Now
Every product has one count, and every change to it is written down with a name and a time. What is promised to an open order cannot be sold twice.

  3. Getting an order to the door

    Before
A text to the driver, and a text back when it was done.
    Now
The driver takes the order on their phone, drives it over and confirms it at the door. That one tap marks it delivered and takes the stock off the count.

In their words.

I take the order on my phone, drive it over and tap delivered at the door. It closes itself. I don’t text the shop to say it’s done any more.

One customer, and no logo wall.

Cultivar is new and in private beta. Burning Bush runs on it today, and it was built alongside the people doing the work: supplier orders, weighing out, counts at close. There is no row of logos on this page and no figure for hours saved, because there is nothing honest to put there yet. When there is, it will be here.

If you want to be the second story, the first shops in the beta work directly with the people building it.
